And this has brought up something interesting that I never really knew about myself: I only ever want the good guy to win. I watch pretty much all of the super-hero shows. Arrow, Flash, Constantine, etc. And even though a lot of them are working the gritty angle now, the good guys still always win in the end. In SOA, I feel like the good guys never win. Nothing good ever happens on the show. If I wanted to feel bad after watching TV, I'd watch the news...

I'm generally in the same boat. Although what really turned me of SOA the one time I watched it was terrible dialogue.

It really is all very stereotypical. It's like the writers only know stereotypes, and wish to keep them going.

Pretty much. Way too many cliches, and much of the acting talent doesn't help.

GF totally uninterested in Breaking Bad , then saw me rewatching a SSN3 episode and said "START FROM THE BEGINNING!" She rejected The Walking Dead ("icky zombies") then walked in on me watching it and said "START FROM THE BEGINNING!" I never watched SOA, and my sense from the rest of you is I should not bother. Even though it has Peg Bundy in it ....

All I can say is, your GF will most likely also watch SOA, because the dudes are hot and sometimes naked. ...Which is not why I watch it at all, I don't know what you're talking about...

She's Japanese, and very reserved - hot naked dudes do not do it for her. Which kind of explains why we've been together for 10 years .... But I'll show her the pilot. We have a deal - any TV show or movie that I want to watch, if she doesn't like it after the first 20 minutes, we put something else on, and I watch the other thing by myself. Except Jets games, although I should probably be shutting those down after 20 minutes to preserve my sanity.

It can be really violent. And crude. My mom asked if they should start watching it, since she knows I watch it, and I quickly shut that down, because she would have been horrified by it.

The GF turns her head away for the most violent parts of Walking Dead , but has soldiered along. More violence will have to be integrated, slowly.
